Alex Lowe, of The Times, is the new chairman of the Rugby Union Writers’ Club.
Lowe takes over from Adam Hathaway, who stands down after his term in office, and is one of a number of changes to the RUWC’s officers, where Sarah Mockford, deputy editor at Rugby World magazine, becomes deputy chair.
Lowe is due to serve a two-year term as chairman, after which it is expected that Mockford will succeed him, to become the first woman to chair the RUWC.
Previously the club’s secretary, Mockford is replaced in that role by Hugh Godwin, the rugby correspondent of the Independent on Sunday.
The RUWC’s annual dinner will be staged in January 2015.
In common with a number of sports specialist writers’ associations and clubs – athletics, hockey and, soon-to-come basketball writers – the RUWC has a landing page on this website here while news relevant to rugby writers can be found here.
