Mike Dunn is the new head of sport at the Independent group of newspapers, including the Sunday title, i, and the Evening Standard.

Until last month, Dunn had been head of sport at The Sun. When he arrived at Derry Street, Dunn’s role included a broad brief for all digital output, including the company’s new regional television station, London Live.
Dunn now takes over on sport from Neil Robinson, who has been promoted to night editor of The Independent in a raft of changes.
Dunn had worked at what was News International for 29 years, first at Today, then as sports editor at the News of the World, and finally as head of sport at The Sun and Sun on Sunday. He left following this summer’s World Cup, as the management re-organised several roles online and in print.
Robinson had been head of sport at the Independent group for three years, in which time he had managed to controversial merger of the sports desk operation with the London evening paper and the Independent on Sunday.
The other changes announced today included Chris Blackhurst, the Independent’s former editor, being appointed multimedia head of business for the Independent, i, Independent on Sunday and Evening Standard.
