Tee off for SJA Spring Golf Day on April 16

The SJA is on the tee again in 2012 with a Spring Golf Day for SJA members, guests and friends.

Surbiton Golf Club in Surrey kicks off the 2012 SJA golf season on Monday, April 16 – thanks to the persuasive powers of one of our great supporters, David Emery, who is yet to miss a SJA Golf Day.

SJA Golf Days get us all back to an older, kinder definition of journalists hacking, and all standards of player are welcome for this event, which is an essential part of the Association’s social activities.

The format is: coffee on arrival, 18 holes of golf played in three-balls, bacon rolls and hot drinks around the halfway point on the course, all followed by a late, two-course lunch. For Surbiton, we have provisionally selected shepherd’s pie with cheese topping followed by apple strudel and cream for lunch, though the club is flexible, particularly in the case of those who are vegetarians or have specific dietary requirements. All they ask is that preferences are flagged up in good time, not on the day.

The cost to golfers at Surbiton will be a reasonable £60 per head, also to cover a round of drinks at the bar, prizes and medals. Hurry to book your place on the 1st tee: playing places are limited, although non-players are welcome to join us for lunch (by arrangement).

All enquiries about the Surbiton day should be addressed to Paul Trow at ptrow76780@aol.com.

Our annual autumn Golf Day will be staged at Muswell Hill Golf Club on Monday September 24. Mark the date in your diary now. Further news of this event will be posted on the SJA website in due course.
