Adrian Dennis, of Agence France Press, receiving the Ed Lacy Trophy as Sports Photographer of the Year was one of the highlights of the 2014 SJA British Sports Journalism Awards, sponsored by BT Sport and held at the Grand Connaught Rooms in central London on March 23.
Dennis, who had won the ultimate prize in British sports photography previously in 2012, gave a brief speech in which he thanks his parents for supporting his efforts to become a sports journalist – poignantly so, since his father had recently died.
The awards judges, chaired this year by Doug Gardner Award-winner Patrick Eagar, expressed high praise for the standard of entry for 2014.
