Press conference: RFU sponsorship launch, Sep 25

What: Launch of BMW Group UK’s new partnership with the RFU including investment in the RFU National Academy Programme and front of shirt sponsorship for the England Under-20, Under-18 and Under-16 squads.

Stuart Lancaster, Andy Farrell, Rob Andrew and Tim Abbott, Managing Director of BMW Group UK will outline how BMW’s investment in the game will be used specifically to ensure the continued development of the next generation of English players.

As front of shirt sponsors for the age grade squads (Under-20, 18 and 16), this season’s new shirt will also be unveiled.

Background: With its new four-year partnership from September 1, the RFU and BMW Group UK will provide an overview of how BMW is investing in various levels of the elite game.  It aims to improve and increase bespoke development for more players by funding a significant expansion of the RFU National Academy Programme.

The partnership focuses on supporting a new programme of talent identification and development for the elite player pathways from 15 year-olds through to the England senior squad.

There will be interview, filming and photo opportunities, including briefings for Daily and Sunday newspapers with Stuart Lancaster and Andy Farrell.
