Miller and Brace’s long service recognised

By Barry Newcombe
Two tennis writers who have each reported on 50 Wimbledon Championships were honoured by the All England Club last night. David Miller and Reg Brace were presented with mementoes by Geoff Newton, chairman of the media committee.

Miller wrote on Wimbledon for the Daily and Sunday Telegraph, The Times, and the Daily Express. Brace is still writing on Wimbledon for the Yorkshire Post, where he also contributes a regular jazz column.

Roger Taylor, a former British No 1, three times Wimbledon semi-finalist, and also a Yorkshireman, told of growing up in the game and meeting Brace for the first time at the Ilkley tournament.

Alain Deflassieux, of L’Equipe, who is reporting from Wimbledon for the last time, also received a presentation.
