Lions help give Mail’s Jackson stylish send-off

Peter Jackson received a stylish send-off on Thursday night from his colleagues and rugby officials, all in Johannesburg for the British and Irish Lions tour, to mark the Daily Mail‘s rugby correspondent’s retirement after tomorrow’s final Test.

Ian McGeechan, the Lions’ head coach, presented Jackson with a framed, autographed Lions’ jersey, while Mick Cleary, from the Daily Telegraph, presented him with a set of golf clubs.

A tribute was given by Stephen Jones of the Sunday Times.

Jackson, 66, has been the rugby correspondent of the Daily Mail for more than 20 years, having worked at the newspaper since 1974, in a career that included spells at the Belfast Telegraph and South Wales Echo.

No announcement has yet been made as to who will succeed him as rugby correspondent on the paper.
