The Telegraph has announced its big transfer window signing on the eve of the new season, with The Independent‘s football correspondent Sam Wallace joining as chief football writer.
The signing of SJA member Wallace is part of a re-shuffle on the Telegraph‘s sport staff following the departure, announced earlier this year, of their long-standing correspondent, Henry Winter, who is joining The Times.
The moves also see Jason Burt promoted to become the Telegraph‘s chief football correspondent. Burt has been covering Premier League football and the England team for 10 years, having joined the Telegraph in 2009.
John Mullin – a former editor of the Independent on Sunday, who was the BBC’s Scottish Referendum Editor and who has worked in senior positions at The Independent, Guardian and Scotsman – joins Telegraph Media Group at the end of this month as head of sports news.
And the Telegraph has also announced that Harry Redknapp will be writing a regular column for its Total Football section every Monday, beginning on August 10.
