A new football supplement is published tomorrow by sister regional dailies who boast new-look sports desks.
Titled Kick-off the supplement – “Every column inch is written by football fans for football fans” – will be inside copies of the Wolverhampton Express & Star and the Shropshire Star and will contain “opinion-led” coverage of West Brom, Wolves, Aston Villa, Walsall, Shrewsbury Town and AFC Telford.
The publication will also includes features on “the lighter side of the game”, and quizzes.
On Mondays, the titles will follow-up with Final Whistle, a 12-page supplement containing analysis and action from the weekend’s matches.
Express & Star editor Keith Harrison said: “We’ve undergone a transformation on our sports desk in recent months and there’s a fresh enthusiasm among the team.
“We’ve reorganised our structure and switched a few things around.
“Credit must go to new sports editor Russell Youll and his deputy Derek Bish, who have made a huge impact since joining earlier this year.
“These new supplements will give readers a fresh perspective on their teams, as well as the expert opinions of Kevin Phillips, Johnny Giles and Steve Bull.
“Everyone is geared up for the new season in print and online. It feels like a new era getting under way and we can’t wait to get started.”
