Chris Hewett, rugby correspondent of The Independent, was elected chairman of the Rugby Union Writers’ Club at its annual meeting at Twickenham Stadium yesterday.
Hewett succeeds David Rogers, of Getty Images, the first photographer to hold the office in the 48-year history of the club.
Paul Morgan, of Rugby World, was elected vice chairman.
