The SJA’s British Sports Journalism Awards will be getting off to an early start on Monday, when an exhibit of the short-listed entries in the photography categories are put on display in central London.
The selection of some of the best sports pictures from 2011 will be on public exhibit from 4pm to 6pm on Monday, March 12, on the first floor of the Grand Connaught Rooms, 61 – 65 Great Queen Street, WC2B 5DA.
The photographs form the cream of the entries in four award categories – Specialist Porfolio, Sports Portfolio, Sports News Picture and Sports Picture – with the winners in each category set to be announced during the SJA awards dinner at the same venue later in the evening.
And the ultimate accolade – the 2011 Sports Photographer of the Year, chosen from among the photo category winners – will also be revealed towards the climax of the night’s by the SJA President, Sir Michael Parkinson.
“The best in the business were entered,” said Mike King, himself a former Sports Photographer of the Year and this year’s chairman of the judges.
The results of all the awards in the SJA British Sports Journalism Awards will be posted on this website from around 10pm on Monday night, with live commentary via Twitter @SportSJA or via the hash-tag #SJA2011.
- The SJA is keen to promote the work of our members and colleagues in the business, and the 2011 photography exhibition is available for sports events and organisations, as well as public bodies, colleges and commercial organisations, to loan for short periods for an exhibition.
