Malcolm Vallerius, the former Mail on Sunday sports editor, has joined Telegraph Media Group as associate sports editor.
Effectively, Vallerius becomes the No3 in the multi-media, 24/7 sports department under head of sport Ben Clissitt and sports editor Adam Sills.
Vallerius left the Mail on Sunday in March after more than 20 years at the paper.
He had been the Sunday title’s sports editor since 2001, and was widely admired and liked by his staff.
His departure was the first high-profile exit since Geordie Greig took over as the paper’s editor.
Vallerius was quickly replaced at the MoS by Alison Kervin, the first woman sports editor of a national newspaper in Britain.
