Adam Sills is confirmed as head of Telegraph sport

Adam Sills has been confirmed as the head of sport at Telegraph Media Group.

newspapers generic foldedSills has been in temporary charge of the Telegraph group’s sporting operations since Ben Clissitt was promoted away from the sports desk at the end of last year, a move which was eventually confirmed in February.

TMG issued a statement today which said, “The promotion is in recognition of how Adam has led his team to develop an effective digital strategy while maintaining the quality of the print section.

“During his time as Acting Head of Sport, Telegraph Sport has enjoyed a substantial growth in digital audience and launched digital innovations such as Project Babb.”

Project Babb is what TMG calls its “alternative football” website.

The official statement continued: “The print section has also been relaunched with a new look to coincide with the World Cup.”

It is likely that other appointments and promotions, the consequence of Clissitt’s and Sills’ moves, will be announced once the World Cup is over.

Sills, 39, joined the Telegraph group four years ago from The Guardian, where he had worked since 1998.

“I am delighted to have been confirmed as head of sport,” Sills told sportsjournalists.co.uk. “The department is making great progress digitally and we have been pleased with the reception for our new-look Sport section.”
