The three contenders for the David Welch Student Sportswriter of the Year Award are Teddy Cutler, 21, Oxford University; Siobhan McCall, 25, St Mary’s University, Twickenham; and Jacob Rabinowitz, 19, Oxford University.

The award, in its third year were Olympic gold medalist Anna Watkins, Mick Cleary, the rugby correspondent of the Daily Telegraph, Ian Marshall, the head of sport, Simon and Schuster, Jessica Welch and Sue Mott.
Last year’s winner was James Gheerbrant, while the 2011 winner was Michael Taylor.
All three short-listed entrants in this year’s competition have been invited, with a guest, to attend the SJA British Sports Journalism Awards on March 24, when the winner will be announced.
