Accreditation: UK School Games, Aug 23-26

The UK School Games is a multi-sport event for the most talented youngsters across the United Kingdom. The event will be staged in Coventry from August 23 to 26.

The Games will feature 1,300 athletes competing in eight sports – athletics, swimming, gymnastics, table tennis, fencing, badminton, judo and volleyball, plus disability events in athletics, swimming and table tennis. The Games will create an environment designed to replicate the feel of a major international sporting event.

Letter of authentication and passport photographs
All media applying for accreditation at the UK School Games will require a letter of authentication from their sports editor and a copy of their SJA membership card to verify their status. It is also essential that every applicant encloses two passport-sized photos with name on the reverse in order for their application to be processed.

Once the media accreditation application form and letter of authentication has been received by the UK School Games Media Office, your application will be processed and confirmation of acceptance will be sent out by e-mail. Please note media accreditation will not be issued via post but will be available for collection in person from the Radcliffe Training and Conference Centre, Warwick Conference, The University of Warwick, Gibbet Hill Road, Coventry on Wednesday August 22 from 14.30.

Please note: The event organisers will not assist in arranging visas for visiting journalists and photographers.

The deadline for accreditation applications is Monday August 13.

All media accreditation will need to be collected from the Accreditation Desk within the Media Centre at the Radcliffe Training and Conference Centre – Media work areas will be available with access to fax and photocopying facilities. A limited number of phone lines will be available for use.

Media accreditation will not be available to collect from the sports venues.

Event Specific Media Areas
An event specific Media Area will be available at each venue to provide easy access to results, information and light refreshments. Press tribunes and communication systems will also be available (for more information please see the Telecommunications section listed below). A representative from the UK School Games Media Team will be available to answer queries on the day.

Telecommunications
A central pool of external phone lines will be available for use by the Media at both the main Media Operations Centre and in the event specific media areas. However because of anticipated high demand, media are encouraged to consider using their own wireless communications.
