TalkSport signs Wright for drivetime show

From Guardian Unlimited
National radio station TalkSport has signed the former Arsenal and England footballer Ian Wright to co-present its drivetime show.

Wright will join current anchor Adrian Durham in the 4pm to 7pm slot from Mondays to Thursdays, starting March 26.

He replaces another former footballer, Rodney Marsh, who left the station in October.

As part of the deal with the UTV-owned station, Wright will also feature in his own podcast-only shows that will be available for download from the TalkSport website.

“We are really excited to have Ian on board at TalkSport,” said the station’s programme director, Bill Ridley. “He is very passionate about the game and will be given free rein to air his views on the important issues that football faces in this country.

“He joins a really strong team of ex-footballer presenters such as Alan Brazil and Andy Townsend.”
