More delays, more disputes, uncertainty over its eventual completion, the National Stadium at Wembley does seem to be plagued with problems.

But can it ever recover from Spectator columnist Matthew Lynn’s description of the new stadium?

“From a distance, the new Wembley Stadium looks like a stately cruise liner forced by rough seas to dock in some tatty West African port.
