Laureus has rolled out a state-of-the-art new website which will greatly enhance its ability to communicate its activities around the world.

Laureus.com has always been the place to go to keep up to date with news of the Laureus World Sports Awards and the work of the charitable Laureus Sport for Good Foundation. Now it has been totally revamped to make it even easier to use.

The new-look website will inter-connect seamlessly with Facebook, Twitter and all other elements of social media which are such a vital part of communication today.

But it will still deliver the excellent comprehensive news and background material which enables the world’s media to report on the activities of Laureus.

“To rework the Olympic motto ‘Citius, Altius, Fortius’, you could say our new website will be ‘Faster, Bigger, Friendlier’,” said Edwin Moses, the chairman of the Laureus World Sports Academy.

“In these days of instant communication, a global organisation like ours with a large Laureus Family needs to have this tool to enable us to get our message as efficiently as possible around the world.”

One of the newest and most exciting features of the website will be increased coverage of the work of the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, which supports 91 community sports projects in 34 countries. Visitors to Laureus.com are now able to read uplifting stories about young people, whose lives have been improved by their Laureus experience.

Laureus combines the Laureus World Sports Awards, the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation and the Laureus World Sports Academy to form a unique international sports organisation that uses the inspirational power of sport as a force for good. Laureus is also a generous sponsor of the Sports Journalists’ Association, including the SJA/Laureus Sports Newspaper of the Year, which was presented earlier this week by Academy member Baroness Grey-Thompson to The Times.

The Laureus World Sports Awards are the premier honours on the international sporting calendar. The winners are chosen by the Laureus World Sports Academy, the ultimate sports jury, made up of 46 of the greatest sportsmen and sportswomen of all time, under the Chairmanship of Edwin Moses.

Members of the Laureus World Sports Academy also volunteer their time to act as global ambassadors for the Laureus Foundation which since its inception has raised €40 million for projects which have improved the lives of more than one-and-a-half million young people. Laureus is also a global leader in research, expertise and best practice in supporting grassroots programmes around the world.
