SJA Golf Day: calling all budding Tigers and Poulters

By Paul Trow
Following our successful outing at Surrey Downs Golf Club in May, the Association’s second golf day of 2009 will see us return to the very popular Muswell Hill Golf Club, on Monday September 7 for our annual autumn trophy day.

Up for grabs will be the Phil Sheldon Trophy, in memory of the distinguished golf photographer and former SJA committee member. Phil’s snapper colleague Patrick Eagar will, we hope, be defending the title he won 12 months ago.

The north London parkland course has never been in better condition and a warm welcome is guaranteed to all SJA golfers on the day even though a similarly firm promise can’t really be made about the weather.

We are also guaranteed, for £50 per head (please pay on the day), coffee and bacon rolls on arrival, 18 holes of golf and a two-course lunch (from around 3pm).

The first three-ball will tee off at 10am and the format, as usual, will be individual Stableford off full handicaps.

There are plenty of prizes to play for — both for SJA members and guests. These also include “nearest the pin” and “longest drive” plus a few fun prizes.

Founded in 1893, Muswell Hill is an undulating, tree-lined, par-71, 6,100-yard course and a great test of golf. For more course details, click here.

Please don’t delay in booking: email Paul Trow on ptrow76780@aol.com or call him on 07973-862747, and he can send you further details and a lunchtime menu selection form — please give the caterer plenty of notice by signaling your lunch choice when booking in. A vegetarian option is available.

Bookings must be received by Thursday September 3.
