BT Vision to sponsor Sports Journalists’ Association

BT Vision, BT’s next-generation TV service, announced today that it has become a principal sponsor of the Sports Journalists’ Association (SJA). The SJA is an association for British-based professional sports journalists, writers, photographers, editors and broadcasters.

Under the agreement, BT Vision Sport will support the SJA’s complete range of activities, including the 59th Annual SJA Sports Awards, to be staged in London on December 12, and the SJA’s British Sports Journalism Awards Dinner in March 2008.
BT Vision Sport will also offer media opportunities to members, including interviews with its athlete ambassadors, who include Dame Ellen MacArthur and international footballers such as Peter Crouch.

SJA members will receive a 10 per cent discount on BT-branded products, and be eligible for welcome cheques of up to £50 for BT Total Broadband and £40 for BT Fusion.

Dan Marks, BT Vision Chief Executive Officer, said: “This country has a global reputation for the depth, breadth and professionalism of its sports coverage. We are delighted to forge this relationship with the SJA, which is in keeping with our intention to become an active member of the sporting community.”

Barry Newcombe, SJA Chairman, added: “I have much pleasure in welcoming the new relationship with BT. The SJA is approaching its 60th anniversary in 2008, and faces challenging times as it continues to respect its heritage and meet the increasingly rapid developments within the media world. BT’s support will help us considerably.”

In addition to Premiership football, BT Vision Sports features action from the Football League and the Scottish Premier League. Customers have access to archive footage of classic matches, and coverage of European football, US PGA Golf, boxing, horse racing, sailing and rugby union.
