UK Sport and Loughborough University Sports Technology Institute are working in partnership to harness ideas for innovation in sports performance. We are delighted to invite you to attend the launch of two nationwide competitions offering grants to accelerate these ideas and access the UK’s leading specialist sports research expertise.
UK Sport: Garage Innovators Award
Ideas for elite performance: this could include anything from novel training or recovery strategies to equipment or apparel to maximise the potential of future British champions
Gatsby Innovation Award (supported by the Gatsby Charitable Foundation)
Ideas for any novel sports equipment or apparel with strong commercial potential
At the launch, we will showcase some examples of cutting edge technologies that could hold the key to world-beating performances, including the first ever sprint spike biomechanically tuned to the individual elite athlete and next generation personal protective garments. There will also be the opportunity to meet some of the most forward-thinking British companies currently developing innovative sports concepts in partnership with our experts.
The event will begin with a buffet lunch at 1pm on Tuesday 22 July at Loughborough University Sports Technology Institute. Presentations will conclude at 4pm, after which you are welcome to continue discussions with our experts over coffee.
