The British Athletics Writers’ Association’s Annual Awards Dinner is always one of the highlights of the awards season. In Olympic year, it is extra special.
The 2008 BAWA Dinner will be held on Saturday October 25 at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London.
This is the gala occasion where we present awards for male and female athletes of the year, junior athletes of the year and the Ron Pickering award for services to the sport.
Full details, prices and booking forms will be sent to all members in the coming weeks but put the date in your diaries now.
Last year, we did not send a wave of invitations to athletes and VIPs until early September, which was far too late and the dinner was only a success because a number of people worked flat-out in September and October to spread the word and pull it together.
So if BAWA members can begin to mention the date – especially to any “big names” they cross swords with – it would be hugely appreciated. BAWA dinners are always better in Olympic year, but let’s not take it for granted.
