IOC announce Young Photographers’ programme for 2018 Youth Olympic Games

The International Olympic Committee are on the lookout for young photographic talent and are offering six successful candidates an amazing opportunity to work at the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games.

The selected young photographers, aged between 18-24, must be able to demonstrate proven photographic excellence, proven interest in sports photography, already have a  portfolio and must provide written references. A proficiency in English is also required.

A team of top mentors, including former SJA award winner Bob Martin, will guide  and teach the youngsters – three men and three women in line with the IOC’s gender equality programme.

The IOC will cover the cost of return economy airfares, meals (with per diem), twin-share hotel accommodation and full tuition. Young photographers will arrive in Buenos Aires on 30 September and depart 19 October 2018. Applicants are required to attend the entire programme.

Following the training programme in Buenos Aires, the top three Young Photographers selected by the mentors, will be invited to the second stage of the programme, the third Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne, Switzerland (10–19 January 2020).

Applications are only open to professional photographers at the start of their career or outstanding students with the written support of the Dean of a Photographic College.
