Murgatroyd resigns from ICC media manager job

From the ICC
Brian Murgatroyd, the ICC’s media and communications manager, has tendered his resignation.

Murgatroyd has decided to leave the organisation after four years, three-and-a-half of them in his current role, to take some time off and to pursue other opportunities.

ICC Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat said: “We are disappointed to be losing Brian because he has been such an important part of our organisation. His knowledge, expertise and judgment have been invaluable. We wish him well for the future and thank him for his years of dedication to the ICC and our great sport.”

Brian Murgatroyd said: “I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity I’ve had to work within the game’s global governing body and it has been a fantastic experience. “I’m proud to have worked with a wonderful group of people who are dedicated to cricket’s best interests and thankful for all the cooperation I’ve had from administrators and media around the world.

“During my four years at the ICC I believe we have been accessible, have improved the quality and breadth of our media operations and we are continuing to innovate, with an example of the latter being our launch of the ICC Cricket World audio show via our website earlier this year.

“I depart knowing that media arrangements for the ICC’s next major event in its centenary year, the ICC Champions Trophy in South Africa next month, are on track and I look forward to following what I know will be a great event and a fantastic advertisement for the ODI form of the game.”

Murgatroyd’s departure is immediate. All media enquiries should now be directed to James Fitzgerald on +971 50 640 1223 or at Email james.fitzgerald@icc-cricket.com or Sami-ul-Hasan on +971 50 452 8662 Email sami.ulhasan@icc-cricket.com.
