Zimmer gets Olympic sponsorship job

From the BOA
Mark Zimmer has been appointed as the British Olympic Association’s director of corporate partnerships.

Zimmer ran the BOA’s hugely successful British Olympic Appeal ahead of the 2004 Athens Olympic Games and is now charged with delivering a comprehensive fund raising programme, including the appeals for both the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games. Mark’s extensive marketing experience and business acumen will be an asset to the BOA as he works closely with LOCOG over the years ahead to provide opportunities for the BOA and Team GB athletes to benefit from the relationships with their 2012 sponsors as they are appointed.

Simon Clegg, BOA Chief Executive welcomed the appointment:
“It gives me great pleasure to welcome Mark back to the BOA. He will be an integral part of the team as we look to increase the level of support for the Olympic Governing Bodies and our Team GB athletes in the lead up to London 2012. Increasing the size of Team GB from 271 in Athens, to over 700 in London and ensuring the valuable opportunities for our Olympic athletes of the future, together with the added responsibilities of being the host Olympic Committee will add significantly to the BOA’s costs in the next six years. Mark’s experience and skills will help us increase our revenue streams in order to meet the challenging demands ahead.”
