Six years today, and counting…

On this day in six years’ time, the 2012 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony will be staged before 80,000 spectators in a new stadium in Stratford, east London, and countless millions on global television and whatever other digital platforms are available by then.

The 2012 London Olympics represents not just an opportunity for British sport, but also British journalism.
