UEPS, the European Sports Press Association, has honoured Morley Myers, the SJA member who was their organisation’s secretary general for 14 years.
UEPS made a presentation to former agency reporter Myers during a new media forum on the Greek island of Rhodes last month.
“I’m taking some time out after last year,” said Myers, “and I will be doing more consulting and helping some of the cities and their various bids. I will become involved in London 2012 but I don’t know to what degree yet.”
Myers is also supporting a photographic project entitled “The Olympians”, for which the outcome will be a photo book serving as a tribute to great Olympic champions.
Some 29 Olympic gold medallists, including Larysa Latynina of Russia,with a record nine golds from three Olympics,and Germany’s Armin Hary, the first man to run 100 metres in 10 seconds, are among those to be included in the work by Polish sports photographer Tomasz Gudzowaty(www.gudzowaty.com).
