Big shoes to fill: Jason Burt

Burt, who was a senior football writer on the Daily Telegraph, will continue to write for the daily.

The 43-year-old joined the Telegraph from The Independent in 2003, where he was executive and home editor having previously been home affairs correspondent of the Daily Mail.

Burt, who has also worked for The Journal in Newcastle and Liverpool Echo, said: “I’d delighted with my appointment of football correspondent and I’m really looking forward to it although I’m sad to see Duncan leave.

“His are big shoes to fill and not just because he’s 6ft 7in.”
