The popular SJA’s young sports journalists’ networking evenings return next month, once again with generous backing from The Jockey Club.

The next meeting invites those studying sports journalism or those already in work to come along to the Pavilion End pub near St Paul’s from 7pm on Tuesday, October 20, to network with others – against the backdrop of Arsenal v Bayern Munich.

Founded in 1750, The Jockey Club today is the owner and‎ guardian of many of British racing’s leading assets, from the Cheltenham Festival to the Grand National and The Investec Derby Festival to The National Stud. Governed by Royal Charter, every penny of profit made by The Jockey Club is reinvested in Britain’s second biggest spectator sport.

The SJA young sports journalists’ event is open to those working across all sports, and is not restricted to those who specialise in horse racing.

The purpose of the event is to generate interesting debates about the future of the industry among those who will be leading it in years to come.

The event welcomes all young sports journalists, whether or not you are already a member of the SJA. We leave it to you to define whether you qualify as “young”, while like the Association, our definition of “sports journalist” embraces reporters, in print or online, broadcasters and photographers.

Food and drink will be provided.

The next event will be a Christmas drinks meeting on Tuesday, December 1.
