Curling offers students a champion chance

From the World Curling Federation

The World Curling Federation is giving full-time students, aged between 18 and 30, a unique opportunity to develop journalistic, broadcast production or photography skills in a practical setting, providing them with first-hand knowledge and experience working alongside industry professionals at an international sports event.

Curling genericThe WCF’s 2014-2015 programme has opened for applicants. We are looking to bring one student journalist, photographer and TV production trainee to Champery, Switzerland, from November 20-30 for Le Gruyere European Curling Championships 2014.

The World Curling Federation (WCF) will provide all three winning candidates with a fully paid trip to the Championships, including return flights, accommodation and some living expenses for the duration of the event.

Full details can be found by visiting the WCF’s website by clicking here.

The trainee journalists will get to interview athletes and others involved in the championship for regular news reports which are distributed to news organisations around the world, while they will also be given the opportunity to write some feature reports for the event websites.

Photographers will be tasked with capturing all the action on the ice and behind the scenes for the duration of the championship. Their photos will be shared as part of our media image library with hundreds of media publications around the world, on our event websites and in future WCF publications.

TV production trainees will get a wide grounding in many aspects of staging a live sports host broadcast production. Tasks may include assisting with audio and camera equipment, working with the World Curling TV ENG news feature crew and helping the WCTV Production Management team.

In addition to their work for the WCF, trainees may also be asked to assist their own national governing bodies communications (should they be participating in the event) as well.
