Peter Bowker, the writer of the TV movie Marvellous, and who was honoured at last December’s SJA British Sports Awards, has been in the prizes again, at this week’s Royal Television Society Awards.

Bowker was named as the winner of “Best Writer – Drama” for Marvellous, the comedic and touching account of the life of Neil Baldwin, who came to particular prominence when he was made kit man at Stoke City by Lou Macari.
The SJA was delighted that Baldwin, Macari and Bowker were all able to attend our Sports Awards last year. And the packed audience was more than amused when Baldwin took to the stage with our chairman, David Walker, and presenter Jim Rosenthal, dressed in a bright yellow chicken suit.
Other notable awards at the RTS this week included Gary Neville winning best sports presenter, and Sky Sports taking the best sports programme for their coverage of the Ryder Cup.
