Covered 10 men’s FIFA World Cups? You’re wanted

Media officers of the world football federation are on a mission to trace veteran World Cup reporters and photographers who have covered at least 10 editions of the men’s tournament.

FIFA is considering an event to acknowledge the contribution of media individuals in spreading the excitement, drama and controversy generated by the world game’s greatest event.

AIPS, the international association of sports journalists, has been asked to liaise with national associations and thus a request for assistance has been referred  to the SJA. So far seven British colleagues have been identified.

Any journalist or photographer accredited to attend the last 10 men’s tournaments would have had to make his or her debut in Spain in 1982. Alternatively he/she would have had to start even further back in modern football history if they have missed some in the sequence.

For any further queries please contact SJA member Keir Radnedge who is chair of the AIPS Football Commission, at KeirRadnedge@gmail.com
