The UK has representation on nine of the 11 category longlists for the AIPS Sport Media Awards 2023.

In total, 73 entries submitted by UK sports writers, broadcasters and photographers have been put through to the next phase of the process for the sixth edition of the awards, which celebrates excellence in the industry from across the globe.

Last year, there was a clean sweep of wins for British photographers as Oli Scarff, John Walton and Will Palmer all triumphed in their respective categories, while Louis Myles claimed the Documentary honours for the second time in three years.

Other previous UK winners at the AIPS Sport Media Awards include Kate Rowan (Telegraph), Dina Asher-Smith (Telegraph column) and Suzy Wrack (The Guardian).

This time, the awards received nearly 1,900 submissions from a record number of 141 countries.

The longlists will now be whittled down to shortlists, due to be announced early next month.

From there, the top three entrants in each category will be invited to attend the awards ceremony, which will be part of the annual AIPS Congress in Santa Susanna, Spain, in late April.

Here are the AIPS Sport Media Awards 2023 categories in which UK entrants were longlisted, with their names. Follow the category titles to see longlists and entry details in full…
