Accreditation: prep camp and Team GB House

From the BOA

Olympic preparation camp, Loughborough

It is expected that every Team GB Member (approx 550 athletes, 450 support staff, 300 volunteers) will go through the Team GB Experience, which includes kitting out, at the Team GB Preparation Camp in Loughborough, at Loughborough University.

The kitting out process will run from June 18 to July 25 with the prep camp closing on August 8.

Approx 220 athletes from 17 disciplines will be using nine training facilities at Loughborough. Six of these venues are being upgraded for Team GB. For the sports using Loughborough as their prep camp, sport specific media days will be hosted. These will typically include a filming/photo op of the athletes in action, a formal press conference followed by one-on-ones/roundtables depending on time available. The dates of these sport specific media ops will be communicated in due course.

The Team GB Experience route for kitting out will incorporate a room set up and running as a media mixed zone. Team GB members will spend max 20min/person in the mixed zone. Closer to the time we will be in a position to provide you with a schedule including the names of the athletes / coaches / PDs / Team Leaders coming through kitting out on any given day. The 20min sessions will typically include 6-9 Team GB members.

Please note that the mixed zone does have a max capacity.

We will run approximately three “behind-the-scenes of kitting out” media opportunities, the dates of which will be communicated shortly. These will allow a limited number of media to follow athletes on their Team GB Experience route and give you a better idea of what this entails.

A media centre with work space and a press conference room will be available for registered media and a Team GB Comms team will be on site to assist you. Limited parking is available and a registration number will need to be provided in advance.

Team GB House, Westfield, Stratford

Team GB House will be located in a prime position at the gateway to the Olympic Park. Based in Westfield, Team GB House will host press conferences with Team GB athletes, support staff, Chef de Mission and Deputy Chefs de Mission both pre Games and during Games and will predominantly be for non Olympic accredited sports media.

Every Team GB medalist will come through for a press conference at some point. However, athletes competing again in a different discipline / event won’t necessarily come through following their first competition. It is expected that the sailors will stay in Weymouth until the last day of competition, and then come up to London (we will however make them available to media at the non-accredited media centre in Weymouth from time to time). For press conferences with medalists, the timing on the advisory will be approximate as in-venue obligations (media, doping control etc) can vary.

The Team GB House press conference facility can seat 70 persons. Generally only one representative per media organisation will be allowed to attend at any one time (the individual who attends can vary). Representatives / organisations will have to RSVP for every press conference and will only have access to a press conference if you are in receipt of an acceptance email/text from Team GB Comms. Once you have received confirmation of a place to attend, you will need to arrive at Team GB House immediately prior to the press conference with photo id to pick up a one-off access pass. Please note that there is no waiting area or media work room / space for filing copy/photos at Team GB House. However, wifi will be available in the press conference room during a press conference.

General

You must provide us with the details of every person you wish to have considered for accreditation for Preparation Camp and/or Team GB House.

If you are only interested in athletes from specific regions, please see our regional access document. This will be used to alert you to a media opportunity with an athlete of possible interest, especially for Team GB House press conferences where space will be very limited.

To download the application forms please visit http://www.teamgb.com/press

Please email the form by 13 May 2012 as a Word attachment and a head and shoulders jpeg photograph of every person you wish to have considered to:

teamgbmediaaccred@TeamGB.com

Please name both files “firstname_surname”.
Successful applicants will be informed by early June.

An application does not guarantee access to prep camp or Team GB House. Access to prep camp will be on a day by day basis. Access to Team GB House will be on a press conference by press conference basis.
