It will be the first time badminton has been featured at Wembley Arena since the 1993 Yonex All England Championships. Wembley Arena will also be the badminton venue at the 2012 Olympic Games.
The media centre for the Yonex BWF World Championships will be open from 10am-4pm on Sunday August 7 (but please be aware that the Wembley area, and particularly the train stations, will be busy throughout the Sunday afternoon because more than 80,000 fans will be attending the Community Shield at Wembley Stadium). The media centre will then open daily one hour before the start of play but further details will become available once you have been accredited.
Please do not make your hotel booking until your accreditation request has been successful. A link to the official hotel booking details will be provided on confirmation of your accreditation request. Priority, in the first instance, will be given to the frontline members of the badminton media. You are, of course, free to book alternative accommodation but official transport will not be available from unofficial hotels.
The media centre at Wembley Arena will offer free internet to accredited journalists but ISDN lines will have to be booked and paid for in advance. A telephone/ISDN booking form is available on request.
There will be a full media team to assist you during the Championships and Badminton England staff look forward to welcoming you to Wembley for the first badminton world championships to be staged in London.
Accreditation forms can be obtained from William Kings, Badminton England’s media officer for the championships, on email@example.com. Applications will only be accepted from bona fide professional media
