Rowlinson named broadcast chief at 2012

From London 2012
London 2012 today announced the appointment of John Rowlinson as Head of Broadcast. He joins London 2012 from the All England Lawn Tennis Club, where he is Director of Television and will start in his new role at London 2012 after The Championships.

John will be responsible for co-ordinating the delivery of the facilities and services to be provided to the Olympic Broadcast Service London, and enabling the television rights holders who will cover London 2012 to provide the best possible broadcast coverage of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Paul Deighton, Chief Executive of London 2012 commented: “John will be a great addition to the team. He has extensive knowledge and experience of running major broadcast operations at sporting events, and will make sure we provide a brilliant technical and operational Games time service to the 15,000 broadcasters who will be coming to London in 2012.”

John Rowlinson commented: “I have had a wonderful time working at the All England Lawn Tennis Club, supporting broadcasters at the world’s greatest Tennis tournament. There is only one job I would have left SW19 for, and that’s this one. London 2012 will be the biggest sporting event to happen in my lifetime, and I’m delighted to be part of it.”
