International matches kick off live wire coverage

A team of former BBC Sport journalists who refused to move to Salford is offering a new digital sports content service, featuring “live blogging” which is kicking off this weekend with coverage of Vauxhall-sponsored football internationals.

The LiveWire Sport team will be covering the game between Wales and Norway tomorrow and England’s friendly with World Cup-winners Spain. Both blogs will be hosted them on Vauxhall’s new-look Facebook pages.

“The two blogs for Vauxhall are the perfect way to kick things off,” said Andy McKenzie, the managing editor of LiveWire Sport. “Our goal is to provide fast and accurate, high-quality commentaries – but we also want to entertain, with lively and engaging conversation from fans and personalities.”

LiveWire’s team consists of McKenzie, Dan Warren, Jonathan Stevenson and Pranav Soneji, plus a number of freelance contributors, several of whom were also at the BBC.

Future plans include live blogging on the Premier League, while 2012 sees huge opportunities at events such as the London Olympics, Euro 2012, the Paralympics and the Ryder Cup.
