Feel the “Power” and get on target

The Press Gazette is backing a unique darts competition for journalists – with the winners to play off against Ray van Barneveld and Phil “The Power” Taylor.

To mark the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship moving from the Circus Tavern to Alexandra Palace, Press Gazette is hosting its first ever knock-out darts tournament for journalists.

This year’s event – from December 17 to January 1 – will be preceded by a journalists’ tournament: an open, knock-out competition to be held at a London venue on November 27. Hospitality will be provided by Ladbrokes.com and the PDC.

The two winners will play in a one-off doubles match with van Barneveld and Taylor on December 11, compered by Sid Waddell.

There will also be Ladbrokes.com free bet prizes of £250 and £200 and two tickets for each of the winners to the semi-finals of this year’s championship.

To enter, you must be able to prove you are a journalist and are able to play darts to a good standard.

Places in the tournament will be limited to 32 and are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis to players who meet the qualifying criteria.

Closing date is November 12 – click here to visit the Press Gazette page for an entry form.
