events in the Sports Journalists’ Association year: the 2007 SJA Sports Awards on December 12, 2007; and the SJA British Sports Journalism Awards, on March 10, 2008.
The Sports Awards are where SJA members get the chance to rub shoulders with the country’s top sportsmen and sportswomen, with past winners of the awards including Joe Calzaghe and Zara Phillips, Freddie Flintoff and Paula Radcliffe, Jonny Wilkinson, Laura Davies, David Beckham and Denise Lewis, Steve Redgrave, Nick Faldo, James Hunt and Virginia Wade.
The British Sports Journalism Awards are the Oscars night for our profession, with top snappers, blunts, radio and TV broadcasters all gathered together for a great night to celebrate excellence in sports journalism.
Both events will again be staged at The Brewery in Chiswell Street in the City of London, and your committee is working on the details and pricing, with an announcement on booking arrangements expected shortly – but we are doing our utmost to keep the cost of tickets for members as close to last year’s levels, which means that the SJA events will once again be probably the most competitively priced awards event of its type.
Tables will again be bookable at a discount for sports desks and commercial partners who would like to attend one of the most glittering events in the sporting calendar.
