As the judging process begins across all categories – sports writing, broadcasting and photography – in the 2016 SJA British Sports Journalism Awards, it would not be right to give away too much about the nature of some of the entries for our celebration of our business.
However, in the sports photography categories, we are able to confirm that three of the big-name winners from the 2015 edition of our awards – Carl Recine, John Sibley and the Sports Photographer of the Year, Alan Crowhurst – have all submitted portfolios this year, and again have managed to capture some fine moments in sport from the past 12 months.
British sports photographers have long been regarded as among the most innovative in the world, and as we approach the 40th staging of the SJA British Sports Journalism Awards with a record entry from hundreds of sports photographers, the early indications are that the standards are higher than ever before.
If you want to be part of our 40th awards presentations, being staged for the first time at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, you are advised to book your tickets now, as demand is expected to be high and there are limited places available.
SJA members get a massive discount on their tickets, and can also bring a partner or colleague with guest tickets on special offer.
