Wilkens gets BOA media job

Miriam Wilkens, previously the media director of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), has been appointed as head of media at the British Olympic Association.

Wilkens will lead the media relations activity for the organisation and will manage the media team at future Olympic Games.

In her role as BOA head of media, Wilkens will be a member of the London 2012 communications and PR & media advisory groups.

In her previous job at the IPC, she established extensive contacts with the International Olympic Committee and the Organising Committees of the 2008, 2010 and 2012 Games. She has also worked for the delegation of the European Commission in Vienna and the Swedish Embassy in Copenhagen.

Announcing the appointment, the BOA Chief Executive Simon Clegg said:
“I am delighted to welcome Miriam to the BOA at such an exciting time in the organisation’s history. Miriam’s extensive experience working for the IPC and her knowledge of the Olympic movement will prove invaluable to the organisation. I am confident that Miriam will make a substantial contribution to the organisation as we seek to deliver British Olympic success, particularly in London 2012.”
