Eat, drink and talk track

From Matthew Brown, BAWA
The British Athletics Writers’ Association is hosting a social evening for journalists covering the European indoor championships in Birmingham at the beginning of March.

Following its successful social events in Sheffield and Helsinki in 2005, BAWA is organising an evening of food, drink and merriment at 9pm on Friday March 2, after the first day of the three-day championships.

On offer is an Indian meal at Birmingham’s Shimla Pinks restaurant, just a few minutes’ walk from both the media hotels at 214 Broad Street. The cost is £25 for members of BAWA, £35 for non-members, and for that price you will get a three-course meal, sold on an “eat as much as you can” basis, and half a bottle of wine or two beers per person.

If Indian is not your thing, the restaurant sells English food, too, and will cater for vegetarian and other dietary requirements if booked in advance.

Special guests from the world of athletics will be there, but you need to book now as this is a reservation only event and places will be allocated on first come, first served terms.

So if you are going to Birmingham to cover the championships, book your place now with BAWA Treasurer Chris Turner: email: chris.turner@hq.iaaf.org; or call (mobile) 00 377 6 78 63 07 91.
