The British Athletics Writers’ Association’s 48th annual awards will be held on Friday, January 14 at Roux at Parliament Square (www.rouxatparliamentsquare.co.uk).
In a break from the usual awards dinner, this year the Association is organising a more informal lunchtime event to honour the BAWA male and female senior and junior athletes of the year, and to present the Ron Pickering Memorial Award for outstanding service to the sport.
The lunch will start with a reception at 12.15 with lunch served at 1.15pm.
Tickets for BAWA members are £25 per person, including pre-lunch drinks, a four-course meal and complimentary wine courtesy of the Virgin London Marathon.
Places will be limited, so all members wishing to attend should book by December 22.
They can do so by contacting BAWA chairman Simon Turnbull on 07710 576446 or 01207 542344 simonturnbulluk@yahoo.com or the Association’s treasurer Tony Barden on 07770 747482 tony.barden@hotmail.co.uk.
The event is being held with support from the Virgin London Marathon, who are offering members travelling from outside London free accommodation at a nearby Holiday Inn. Please contact Tony Barden for further information.
