PA Sport’s Martyn Ziegler fulfilled a life-long ambition in Vancouver yesterday, when he carried the Olympic torch for a leg of the relay ahead of Friday’s Winter Games opening ceremony.
The International Olympic Committee wanted to involve a member of the British media in the torch relay as London 2012 will be the next Games after Vancouver, and chose SJA member Ziegler to run a 500-metre stage of the relay in the suburbs of the Canadian city.
