Pearce appointed to key London 2012 job

Jayne Pearce, the former press chief for the international athletics federation and UK Athletics, has been appointed to a key position by the London 2012 Olympic organisers.

Pearce, a member of the Sports Journalists’ Association, has been appointed as Head of Press Operations by LOCOG, and takes up her new job next month after several years of running her own media organisation, Pearce International, which has be involved in the press operations of global sports events including football and rugby World Cups, the Commonwealth Games and the annual London Marathon.

Her role at LOCOG will involve managing the needs of the accredited written press, news agencies and photographers around the London 2012 Olympic competition venues.

“We have hired Jayne because of her extensive press operations experience, including working at the Atlanta, Sydney, Turin, Salt Lake City and Barcelona Games,” a source at Canary Wharf told sportsjournalists.co.uk.

Pearce said: “This is a dream come true for me.

“It is the culmination of a career and a challenge I relish.”
