Last call for SJA Golf Day – Oct 2

Any SJA member, and their guests, wanting to take part in our golf day on Monday October 2 at Shirley Park GC, Surrey, needs to book with Trevor Bond by next Wednesday, September 20. There are only a limited number of places remaining for what promises to be an excellent day’s sport on one of the most highly rated courses in the south of England. SJA members’ guests are most welcome.

Cost of the day is £47 each for bacon rolls and coffee upon arrival around 8am, 18 holes and a set meal. To book your place, e-mail Trevor Bond here, or phone him on 01277 651708.

Shirley Park GC was designed in 1913 by Tom Simpson and Herbert Fowler, the undulating ground has been used well to provide a challenge on every fairway and green. The course snakes through mature oaks and occasionally crosses ravines, so club selection is always important to get exactly the right distance.

Generous fairways and well-maintained greens accommodate all levels of handicap golf and our rough will penalise you with a restricted shot, not necessarily a lost ball. Hole 7 is one of the best par threes you’ll find anywhere in Surrey. Easy it is not.

Details of Shirley Park Golf Club, its course and facilities, and how to get there (it is five minutes’ drive by car on the A232, or a Tiger Woods 1 Wood, from the centre of Croydon, and so can be reached via the A23 from the M25), click here.
