A senior lecturer at the University of Sunderland is leading a Google DNI (Digital News Initiative) funded research project aimed at helping journalists investigate and report social media abuse.
Dr John Price, programme leader for the BA (Hons) Sports Journalism degree, plans for the results to be used in a new Routledge textbook offering advice for young and aspiring sports journalists about how to deal with online abuse.
He wants to hear from sports journalists about their experiences of social media abuse and for their tips for students and trainees about how best to deal with the problem.
