Euro sports journalism school to be staged in Crete

By Morley Myers, Secretary General, UEPS
Heraklion, Crete will be the venue for the 2nd UEPS Journalists’ School from October 28 to November 1.

In 2007 more than 240 sports journalists from 31 European countries attended the inaugural event and UEPS – the European sports press union – hopes to exceed that total in 2008.

The five-day series of seminars will include items on new technologies in sports media. Speakers will include representatives from the world of the Olympic Movement, which should be of special interest to UK sports journalists as London will be in the spotlight on the run-up to 2012. It is hoped journalists and representatives from Beijing 2008 will also attend.

Accommodation and full board will be in luxury double rooms at the Knosses Royal Village 5-star Aldemar Hotel. The cost for the five-day school is only 300 euros per person and includes accommodation and full board, internal transportation in Crete, excursions and a sports and culture programme. Flights and transfers need to be arranged separately.

Registration forms can be downloaded from the UEPS website and e-mailed to sportsjournalistschool@gmail.com.

Running simultaneously with the school will be an extraordinary UEPS Congress to which delegates from all 48 member European national associations are invited.
