Charity bids are open to win a place in the London Marathon

The Sports Journalists’ Association is offering a place in the 2017 Virgin Money London Marathon to the SJA member, their friend or family who pledges to raise the most sponsorship for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

The Royal Marsden is a world-leading organisation offering the very best in diagnosis, treatment and care for cancer patients.  The SJA is delighted to support the valuable work it does to conquer cancer and this generous offer from London Marathon Events Ltd of a coveted marathon place will hopefully raise significant sponsorship.

In a year which saw more than 253,000 applications to the marathon ballot, this is a great opportunity to fulfil that marathon dream. As a part of the prize package, the successful candidate will also be allocated a grandstand place at the marathon finish for their supporter.

Bidding for the place is open today and will close at 2pm on Thursday December 15, during the SJA British Sports Awards lunch.

To place a bid, simply email your total pledge, along with your name, contact phone number and email address to maryfitzhenry@hotmail.co.uk

The bid is a pledge to raise the money in sponsorship by April 23 2017 and not a purchase price.

The race place will still be subject to the standard marathon entry fee of £39.

The winner will be announced at the SJA British Sports Awards, sponsored by The National Lottery.

Pledges can be made in person at the event at The Pavillion at the Tower of London. A

limited number of tickets are still available to attend this event. To book a place, please contact sja@s2fevents.co.uk or telephone 020 8916 2493.
