RFU media alert: Twickenham accreditation system

The media team at Twickenham Stadium wanted to alert all media in England, and in other unions who might have cause to visit Twickenham, that a new online web-based media accreditation system has now replaced the old fax and email based system with immediate effect.

In installing this new system the RFU is automating the existing process rather than creates anything new and the Terms and Conditions remain the same as in the past.

The new system was used for media accreditation during the recent Women’s Rugby World Cup and worked seamlessly and without issue and has now been broadened to manage media accreditation for all games at Twickenham, including England games but also for other tournaments. The system is based on tried and tested technology and has been adapted from the system used at Wimbledon.

The new system will make media accreditation easier and quicker for media and significantly reduces the possibility of human error.

Media can register on the site and then electronically request accreditation, and car parking, for any game at the stadium. They will receive an automatic receipt of their request and then when that has been processed will be automatically informed whether their request has been successful or not and if successful will receive all the information required to pick up that accreditation.

Media can go to the site today at http://www.rfu.com/pressaccreditation to register and accreditation is now open for the Investec Internationals and the Mastercard Trophy game between Barbarians and South Africa. Attached are a set of user instructions for the service and also tells you where they can go to get support as they get used to the new system.

Any issues or concerns can be addressed to Richard Prescott, England Teams Media Director on richardprescott@rfu.com or emmakennedy@rfu.com.

Emma will be handling day to day enquiries for accreditation.
